K-Rail: HC questions rationale behind land acquisition without survey, railway but upholds the procedures

Amid row over SilverLine semi-high speed train project spearheaded by K-Rail, Kerala High Court has questioned the rationale behind mentioning 955.13 land acquisition without conducting a survey. Notably, the notification issued by the government related to the survey of the project mentions the survey number of land acquired, the block number and village.

However, the railway has come forward upholding the land acquisition. On Friday, the railway informed the High Court that K-Rail is permitted to issue the notification for initiating land acquisition. Railway has also supported the arguments put forward by the state government before the court.

The railway has informed their stance on the SilverLine project when the court was considering a plea that questioned the preliminary procedures of land acquisition.

The state government argued that the land acquisition procedures for the SilverLine project should be cancelled.

Railway also asserted that K-Rail has taken the permission for continuing the land acquisition.
