There has been considerable decline in the number of ceasefire violations in June since the beginning of this year. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a written reply to Vijay Pal Singh Tomar in the Rajya Sabha stated that highest number of violations took place in March recording 267 cases with three causalities. In June, 108 ceasefire violations took place though there was one casualty, as against 221 violations in May.

“Appropriate retaliation to the ceasefire violations, as required has been carried out by Indian Army. Also all violations of ceasefire and infiltration are taken up with Pakistan authorities at the appropriate level through the established mechanism of hotlines, flag meeting, Directorate Generals of Military Operations talks as well as diplomatic channels between the two countries,” said the statement.
