Those who have been crying that the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)’s future is at stake are the ones who have kept destroying the institution for over several years since its inception with blatant favouritism for promoting Leftists and their ideology.
The Left-leaning media outlets have tried to create an impression that the administrators appointed by Narendra Modi-led government have triggered division within the teaching community in the university. But the fact is that the teaching community has always been divided. While the Left leaning faculty members are aggressive in pushing their political agenda, those who have independent views or from non-Left organisations find campus politics is highly biased with and a total time consuming and unwarranted exercise.
JNU is not different from what is seen as dynasty politics among some of the political parties. Many of the Left faculty members were selected because their political gurus were in positions of power in the university. One can find that many of the Left-leaning faculty members are strict followers of their Leftist professors.
It was always believed that one could make to JNU only if he or she fulfils two criteria: One, possess strong, often extreme Left wing ideological interest; Two, a godfather among faculty members. Favouritism has played a crucial role in faculty in the past, and the absence of such favouritism is often criticised by Left with scathing attack on so called ‘right-wing’.
After every election, the JNUTA takes up one or the other usual issues and blow out of proportion to flex muscles, a show of power of strength. Certain mediapersons in national dailies and Left propaganda media outlets have been working as paid mouthpieces of these Leftwing racketeers always ready to publish articles and spread propaganda the way their political masters want. Many in these media houses are also ex-JNU students who have been enslaved by their political ideologies
Sadly, the jargon filled articles of these publishing houses apparently surviving on donations do not give readers anything more than what the Leftwing political novices in JNU paste on the hostel walls. However it is curious to many readers why these media sources regularly seek contributions from readers, whether it is a strategy to cover up their incoming funds from ‘unknown’ sources or to give a ‘proletariat’ image to readers.
Whatever is the case, the Left politics within the campus is run by a set of English educated, elites who have been consistently destroying the future of poor students who came to JNU with great ambitions.
This time the apparent reason highlighted by the Leftwing racketeers in the campus is that the Vice-Chancellor denied their demand for a tea with their newly-elected members. While JNU VC has always been accessible to all teachers and students seeking his support, the Leftwing teachers prefer to claim that they have been treated as untouchables. Everyone in the university and outside know that these reasons are mere namesake as the newly elected JNUTA are in reality suffering from ‘issue poverty’.
Moreover, this time the Leftwingers of JNUTA are further angry that VC has asked them to resolve any differences through ‘mutual dialogue’, an extremely unacceptable solution to the revolutionaries of a subsidised campus life.
Reasons that angered many left JNUTA members also include, JNU administrations directive to comply with attendance. While some argue that attendance in a university environment shall not be made mandatory, others believe that many faculty members misused the freedom of lack of attendance and have often travelled within the country and internationally without taking adequate permissions from the university. Many teachers were apparently given show-cause notices, which also irritated the Leftwingers. The continued unauthorised absence of some faculty members also prompted the university to make faculty attendance mandatory. Unauthorised absence of faculty members also has been one of the major reasons for students to follow the same.
The Leftwingers of JNUTA also called for a hunger strike. Many faculty members feel this is a real mockery and term it as ‘Biriyani Strike’ to say that, a stomach full of biriyani before and after the so called relay hunger strike is a real insult the JNU community.
The JNU VC’s refusal to get arm-twisted by the Left-wingers and be their ‘punching bag’ has angered many of them. While the VC has always directed all to strictly adhere to the university rules, the left wingers find him arbitrary and authoritarian.
What the university today is because some genuine hardworking and independent thinking students and faculty members have struggled to make some contributions to the academic world. The Leftwingers’ attempt to portray JNU as a synonym of their ideological fallacies is nothing but political immaturity of this ‘elite’ academic community. Taking over the brand name of JNU as that of Left ideology is nothing but part of a grand strategy that has been running for decades.
For the university to strive and for the academics to flourish, the students, teachers and staff must identify these opportunist Leftists and show them their place without which, the university will continue to suffer.
The Leftwingers continue to mislead media and general public by filling false propaganda through their ‘mouthpieces’. It is high time that the people realise their real agenda and consciously eliminate them. Genuine students and teachers have been at the receiving end of their politics. Non-Left faculty members are falling victims to the organised attacks by their Leftists peers.
