In Jharkhand, filing of nominations for the third phase of assembly elections ended this evening. Scrutiny of papers will take place tomorrow. Candidates can withdraw their names till Thursday.
17 constituencies spread over eight districts will go to polls in this phase on 12th December.
Meanwhile, campaigning is gaining momentum in the areas where the first phase of elections will be held on 30th of this month. Addressing election rallies in Daltonganj and Gumla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, the BJP led government in Jharkhand is essential to speed up developmental works in the state. He said, the prime mantra of the BJP-ruled State is development.
The Prime Minister said, Naxalism strengthened during the previous unstable governments.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha President Babulal Marandi and AJSU Chief Sudesh Kumar Mahto addressed a series of meetings throughout the state today. Besides leaders of Congress, RJD and the Left also addressed election rallies to woo voters.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in five phases between 30th November and 20th December. Counting of votes will take place on December 23.
