Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has filed a plea seeking review of the Supreme Court judgment in the Ayodhya land dispute case.
President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Maulana Syed Ashhad Rashidi filed the review plea today.
He said the judgment suffers from errors apparent on record and warrants a review under Article 137 of the Constitution of India.
The litigant also sought an interim stay on the operation of the verdict in which the apex court had directed the Centre that a trust be formed within three months for construction of Ram temple at the site.
The review petition said the apex court allotted alternate land measuring 5 acres to the Muslim parties for construction of a mosque, which was neither pleaded nor prayed for by them.
