External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is headed for the CHOGM summit in Kigali, Rwanda, on Wednesday was at the Ethiopian capital where he held talks with the Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde on bilateral cooperation and development partnership. He also addressed the Indian Community in Addis Ababa.
In tweets, the EAM said: “Thank Ethiopian President @SahleWorkZewde for receiving me.
“A good discussion on our bilateral cooperation including education, health, investment, as also development partnership.
“Also exchanged perspectives on the regional and international situation.”
On his address to the Indian community, he said: “Addressed the Indian community in Addis Ababa this morning.
“Their role in education and employment generation has been commendable. Their contribution to Ethiopian society is widely recognised. “Thank them for keeping India’s flag flying high.”
The EAM is leading the Indian delegation to the CHOGM, which had earlier been postponed twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He will be representing Prime Minister Modi at the Commonwealth Summit on June 24-25, as well as attending the pre-CHOGM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on June 23 in Kigali.
