Multiple blasts that took place near a Gurdwara rocked Afghanistan’s capital Kabul this morning. According to reports, multiple gunshots were heard in the area. There are several devotees in the Gurdwara, they added, however, the number of casualties is not known yet.
The explosions hit a busy road near the Gurdwara in Kabul’s Karte Parwan area this morning. The area is densely populated and several people are feared dead, say local news reports.
“The sound of explosions was heard in Karte Parwan area of Kabul city. Details about the nature and casualties of this incident are not yet known,” Afghanistan’s Tolo News tweeted today.
The two blasts happened near the two gates of Gurdwara Dashmesh Pita Sahib Ji, Karte Parwan, Kabul, local reports say.
BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa told news agency ANI that three people have managed to come out of the Gurdwara, two of whom have been taken to the hospital. The guard of the Gurdwara was shot dead, he added.
“We are deeply concerned at the reports emanating from Kabul about an attack on a sacred Gurudwara in the city. We are closely monitoring the situation and waiting for further details on the unfolding developments,” the Ministry of External Affairs said.
