A cargo ship was beached off Mangaluru’s Ullal coast leaving 15 crew in danger. However, they were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard, said reports.
The Belize-flagged cargo ship, MV Princess Miral, ran into trouble after the ship started taking on water through a hole in the hull. The ship’s captain sent a distress signal and requested help to evacuate the crew.
The 15 crew, all Syrian nationals, aboard the troubled MV Princess Miral were rescued, the coast guard said.
At the time of the incident, the ship was carrying around 8,000 tonnes of steel coils from Tianjin in China to Beirut in Lebanon, added reports.
