India and US today discussed ways to further enhance their cooperation to counter and control the COVID-19 pandemic. Sources said, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had a telephonic conversation with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Stephen E. Biegun where they exchanged views on the current COVID 19 pandemic situation and associated challenges.
They also discussed how to control the pandemic including through the development of novel therapies and prophylactics against COVID-19 and ensuring availability of essential medicines, diagnostic and medical equipment, and sharing of best practices and information.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump had telephonic conversation over the issue. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Pompeo also spoke over phone to discuss the issue.
