India will hold a course on COVID-19 management course on May 12-13 for health professionals, health workers and administrators from Bangladesh. The course has been designed under the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) framework by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneshwar.
Announcing this on Thursday, a Press Release issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka said that it is the first course to be conducted in Bangla. Registration has been invited from the interested persons from Bangladesh for the online course. It said multiple online capacity building courses on COVID-19 for health professionals have been designed and conducted by leading medical professionals from India.
Following up the March 15 Video conference of SAARC leaders initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi two video conferences between the health professionals of the two countries have been held. The health professionals of India and Bangladesh discussed specific measures and best practices on COVID-19 management during these conferences.
The first such course was conducted by AIIMS, Raipur from 17 to 21 April. The second course which started on April 27 is currently underway. It is being conducted by Post Graduate Institute of Medical Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh and will complete on 6 May. Over 150 Health professionals from Bangladesh have already benefited from these courses.
The Press release said that these courses are part of the ongoing initiative following from the March 15 Video Conferencing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with SAARC leaders. It said India stands firmly with Bangladesh in times of challenge which was reiterated in the telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh on Wednesday.
