Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu has said that India had a rich and vibrant history of honouring and respecting women and acknowledging their invaluable contribution to social development.
Making a reference in the house to the celebration of International Women’s Day on 8th of March, Mr Naidu said women used to play a significant role in economic and public affairs.
He said, Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women throughout the world and honour their resolute determination and incessant efforts to achieve equality, justice and economic development.
