It is official now! Hombale Films, the producers of the legendary Kantara movie has announced its sequel. The producer of the film, Vijay Kiragandur, had earlier hinted about the possibility of a second part of the hugely successful film. At the same time, he had said last December that whether the film will be followed by a sequel or a prequel, it is not possible to say now and the decision will be taken only after consulting director Rishabh Shetty. Now there is more clarity about this project. This has been reported by leading foreign entertainment media, Deadline, quoting producer Vijay Kiragandur.
The sequel is based on the prequel story of Panchuruli Daiva in Kantara. Vijay Kiragandur says that Rishabh Shetty has already started writing the film and he has gone to the forest for research purposes along with his writing assistants. Rishabh is planning to start the shoot in June. Because one phase of the shoot has to be done during the rainy season. We are thinking of a pan-India release in April or May 2024. Since Kantara was a huge success, the expectations of the audience for the second part are also very high. Some new people will also enter the project, says the owner of Homballe Films.
Hombale Films had earlier announced that they will invest 3000 crores in the next five years. One of these is Kantara 2. Written and directed by Rishabh Shetty and starring Rishabh Shetty in the lead role, the Kannada version was the first to release. The makers decided to release the dubbing versions after gaining audience attention in other states outside of Karnataka. The movie became one of the biggest hits of last year in Indian cinema as all the dubbed versions became a huge success. After that, the film got great acceptance in the OTT release as well. The film was released on November 24 through the leading platform Amazon Prime Video.
