Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah today said that while the entire country supports the Center’s move to scrap Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 and bifurcate it into two union territories, it is still being opposed by certain political parties.
He was addressing a public meeting at Silvassa, the headquarters of the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Mr Shah said the Congress opposed the Center’s move and whatever statements Rahul Gandhi makes have been cheered in Pakistan. He said Pakistan has included Rahul Gandhi’s comments in its plea to the United Nations against India.
Amit Shah said that the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status has paved the way for its development. He said the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India will be the final nail in the coffin of terrorism.
AIR correspondent reports that the Home Minister dedicated and inaugurated a series of development projects. He laid the foundation stone for education hub at Zanda Chowk and Tokarkhada in Silvassa which will come up at the cost of 61 crore rupees. This will cater to the educational needs of more than 15 thousand students, which amounts to a total 27 per cent of the total school students of this union territory.
Amit Shah also flagged off mobile vans for delivering Mid-day meals to school children. He also inaugurated Youth Hostels and launched Shram Yogi Prasad Scheme. Under the scheme, industrial and construction workers will get nutritious breakfast and meals at subsidized rates at their workplace on a regular basis.
