In an incident, an infant dies when Community Health Centre (CHC) in Panoor refused to attend the case. The horrible negligence is reported from Kerala health minister KK Shailaja’s constituency. In a possible attempt to save the image of the government, the doctor and a nurse have been transferred by the health department, says report.
Police investigating the case said that the baby died after medical attention was denied. The family was all set to leave for hospital after the baby’s mother Sameera felt labour pains. But before they could leave for the hospital, the woman delivered the baby.
Looking at the situation, a relative of the mother rushed to the Panoor CHC and asked the doctor to visit the house to attend to the case. Citing COVID-19 guidelines, the doctor refused to visit the house, sources said.
As the incident became a controversy, the officials were forced to take disciplinary actions against the staff.
