Governor Arif Khan tweets Kerala CM’s picture with Gold Smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh, Withdraws post in 30 minutes

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan today tweeted a picture of Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan with the controversial accused in gold smuggling case Swapna Suresh, however the tweet was withdrawn in half an hour with a note of apology saying the picture was posted by ‘mistake’. The tweet appeared in the governor’s official twitter handle.

‘Honorable governor of Kerala Arif Mohammed Khan addressed an online knowledge series held by Jeevanrang on 5th July. He spoke on topics like Kerala Covid model, international developments, religion, Society etc.’ – the tweet reads. However the tweet carried the photograph of CM Pinarayi Vijayan with the controversial woman who is accused in the gold smuggling case. Soon the tweet was withdrawn with an apology saying the pic was uploaded by mistake.

The tweet appeared soon after Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan told the media that he doesn’t know the lady and also that he was not aware of her appointment in the IT department. The picture clearly shows that the CM and the accused knew each other.

Swapna Suresh, the alleged key conspirator in the case in which gold was smuggled into Kerala through diplomatic baggage addressed to the UAE consulate, has been dismissed by the IT department. A former employee at the UAE consulate here, Swapna was working as an operational manager under the IT Department.

She has been absconding ever since the gold smuggling case came to light. The Customs department has intensified the search to nab her. It is alleged that Swapna has connections with high level officials.
