Generic medicines have gained momentum in the country with its share shooting to eight per cent from two per cent in the last five years.
Talking exclusively to AIR News, Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizer, Mansukh Mandaviya said, 7th of March of every year will be observed as ‘Jan Aushadi Diwas’ and on this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with 6200 Jan Aushadi stores and the beneficiaries through video conferencing.
The Minister said, every day, around three lakh people belonging to poor and middle class families visit Jan Aushadi stores to get affordable and cheaper medicines. He said, since the 1st of March this year, blood donation camps and seminars have been organized at the Jan Aushadi stores to create awareness among the people.
He urged people to visit the Jan Aushadhi stores today and listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Minister said, it is a misconception that the medicines are inferior in quality and even Americans are also using them.
