A car was attacked at Pallippuram in Thiruvananthapuram and 100 sovereign gold was stolen from a jewellery owner. The gold was stolen after a group of men chased the car, threw chili powder and hacked the jeweler. The incident took place on the National Highway near the Technocity gate near the Pallippuram CRPF camp around 9 pm on Friday.
The victim was identified as Sampath, who runs a jewelery shop in Neyyattinkara. A group of eight persons chased Sampath’s car in a white Maruti car from the Thiruvananthapuram area, stopped the car and slashed the jewelery owner’s left arm and body, after which he stole the gold. It is learned that the driver of the car was forcibly taken away and dropped off near Pothencode Vavarayambalam. Police are investigating the incident. The injured jeweler sought treatment at the hospital.
