Health Secretary Preeti Sudan has said that the first two students in Kerala who tested positive for Novel Coronavirus are on recovery path and their viral load has come down drastically.
Three students from Kerala studying in China were tested positive for Coronavirus. Talking to AIR News this evening, Ms Sudan said, they are under close monitoring and in 15 days they are expected to recover.
She said, Centre is in regular touch with all states. She added that states are doing tremendous work and sending bulletins everyday to the Ministry.
The Health Secretary said, Government is now closely monitoring and also screening passengers from all flights. Till date, one lakh five thousand passengers from 951 flights were screened. She said, 645 persons brought from Wuhan have been kept in ITBP and Army facility. Ms Sudan said, five from the camps were brought to hospital as they showed some symptoms.
The Health Secretary said, five thousand 123 people are under home surveillance in the country. 128 persons have been hospitalised. She said, a total of 741 tests done and of these 738 have tested negative and 3 were positive. She informed that 342 tests are under process.
She requested people to maintain personal hygiene, maintain cough and cold respiratory etiquette and regularly keep washing hands and refrain from visiting China.
In China, cumulative cases of Novel corona virus have reached 24 thousand 324 with 490 deaths. It has spread to 17 countries with two deaths outside china in Philippines and Hong Kong.
