Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday accused the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) members for unleashing violence on the pretext of protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act.
“Extremist groups like SDPI is trying to create unrest using the anti-CAA protests. The state government cannot permit this. Police will slap cases against such people. Any attempts to create communal disharmony in the state will be dealt strongly,” he said in question hour in the Assembly.
“The protests by the Mahal Committee were all peaceful. No case has been filed against anyone for protesting against the law,” he said.
Pinarayi Vijayan added that if any incidents happen like that of vandalising post offices, strict action would be taken by the police.
