A major setback to Kerala CPI(M) leadership, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will question its top leader’s son on his alleged illegal financial deals. Bineesh Kodiyeri, son of CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, will present himself in front of the investigating officers, say reports.
ED would primarily question Bineesh regarding hawala-benami deals. The officials have issued a notice to Bineesh asking him to appear at ED’s Kochi office on Wednesday for questioning. It is learned that Bineesh will present himself for questioning.
Investigations had revealed that Bineesh was part of two companies that were registered in 2015. But both are non functional at present. The ED is investigating if these companies were started to conduct illegal financial deals.
The revenue and expenditure details of the companies were not submitted and their licenses had been cancelled. The ED will investigate the real motive behind starting the companies and whether transactions were made in their name.
Meanwhile, Bineesh Kodieyeri’s name was mentioned in the statement given by Muhammed Anoop, who was arrested in the Bengaluru drug case. Later, it was revealed that Bineesh had helped Anoop financially before the latter started his business.
Following this, the BJP and Muslim Youth League had come out seeking investigation against Bineesh.
