DRI seizes gold worth Rs 2.12 crore from 4 passengers at Kochi airport

In a major haul, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials at the Kochi international airport seized 4.49 kg gold worth nearly Rs 2.12 crore from four passengers here on Monday.

Muhammad Kunju Maheen, Muhammad Arjaz, Shamsudeen and Kamal Mohiudeen who travelled to Kochi in a Fly Dubai airlines flight were nabbed by the officials. They tried to smuggle the gold by hiding it on their legs.

Among them, two are Malappuram natives while the others are from Kozhikode and Tirunelveli. DRI officials are questioning the four in detail.
