The Kerala High Court has demanded that the Industries Secretary provide an affidavit on Wednesday detailing the steps taken to address the illegal placement of signs and banners in public spaces. If the Secretary fails to comply, they must appear in person to explain their actions.
The Court has stated that their previous patient approach should not be interpreted as weakness and they are prepared to take a firmer stance.
“This Court, until now, has been acting with great equanimity and patience. However, this is now being taken as a weakness. Perhaps, the time has come for this Court to prove otherwise,” Justice Devan Ramachandran said.
During the hearing, the court’s advisor noted that he had observed a clear disregard for court orders in Thiruvananthapuram city and raised questions about the message being sent by the government and its agencies.
The court also noted that the government department had not submitted an affidavit in response to their previous orders.
