In another major setback to the Kerala government, the High Court today said it cant understand the purpose of the Silver Line project survey. The court also asked what the current survey would have been if a proper survey had been conducted on the DPR. However, the government argued that a division bench was expected to rule on a similar petition and that more time was needed to file a counter affidavit. The government also asked the single bench to adjourn the case.
Earlier, the High Court single bench had stayed the survey proceedings of the Silver Line project. The single bench of the high court stayed the land survey of more than a dozen petitioners who had approached the high court. When another petition in this regard came up for consideration in the High Court, some questions arose on the part of the High Court single bench questioning the intent of the Government.
The High Court asked the government counsel why the survey was being conducted and its purpose was not understood. Proper survey procedures had to be completed before the DPR could be prepared. Under what circumstances is the survey proceeded with now? The court also pointed out that the blockade was due to illegal survey procedures.
Earlier, the government had filed an appeal in the Division Bench against the order of the Single Bench. The division bench, hearing the appeal filed by the government, adjourned the case till further notice. It is at this point that the Single Bench has made such a response.
