Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has stressed the need for disseminating the findings of scientific research to the people in the local language. He also urged scientific institutes to pass on this information and get the feedback about same from the public.
He also emphasized on active participation of people in the scientific development activities so that its benefits can ultimately reach to them in an easier way. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the International symposium on Metal ions and organic pollutants in Biology, Medicine and Environment organized by National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) in Nagpur today.
On this occasion, a comprehensive public outreach programme by NEERI namely Jagruti-Ek Samaj, Ek Lakshya was launched by the Vice President. Under this public-driven initiative of Science and Technology, unmapped rivers will be rejuvenated by creating Alliance for Rivers (AFR) and this programme will also create Water Literacy among masses.
The 15th International Symposium organized at NEERI will highlight the challenges with respect to Air Quality and Health, Cancer Imaging and Therapeutics, Human Diseases and Environmental Pollutants, Risk Assessment and Remediation, Metal-based Nano-technology and Toxicology, Metal ions in Radiation Response and its Modification, Role of Major and Minor elements in Health & Environment and Environmental Carcinogens and Adverse Impacts. The day-long symposium will see the participation of various delegates across the country. Mr Naidu also planted a sapling in Smriti Van at NEERI campus on this occasion.
