The Lokayukta will today hear a petition alleging the misappropriation of the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. Apart from the Chief Minister, all the 16 members of the previous cabinet are involved in the case.
The petition questions the usage of money from the Disaster Relief Fund of Rs 25 lakh for the education of the children of the late NCP leader Uzhavoor Vijayan, Rs 8.5 lakh for repaying the car loan of the late MLA Ramachandran Nair and taking a gold loan, and Rs 20 lakh in addition to the benefits for the family of the civil police officer who died in the accident involving the pilot vehicle of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
All the documents connected to this has been submitted by the government to the Lokayukta which says that the decision was made after the cabinet meeting. The Lokayukta Division will be considering the case in the afternoon.
