Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday mourned the death of his predecessor Sheila Dikshit, saying her contribution to the city will always be remembered.
Kejriwal who defeated Dixit in the Assembly elections was seen as her archival in politics. “Just now got to know about the extremely terrible news about the passing away of Sheila Dikshit. It is a huge loss for Delhi and her contribution will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to her family members. May her soul rest in peace,” stated Kejriwal in a tweet.
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh said he was “shocked and aggrieved” at her death. According to him, Dishit was a rare gem of a human being besides being a dignified and graceful politician whom I have personally known for four decades.” He said Dikshit built Delhi as a modern, vibrant and dynamic new city.
Mourning the death of the veteran Congress leader, former Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy said Kochi Metro became a reality because of Sheila Dikshit. “Kerala owes a great deal to her for this,” he said. Chandy said she was a great leader who worked for the poor and marginalised.
