Electronics and Information Technology Minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad today said the digital transformation powered by Digital India is filling the digital divide and allowing innovation in the country.
He said, JAM trinity, digital payment and direct benefit transfer changed the digital landscape of India.
Speaking on the 6th edition of Google for India through video conferencing, he said, Aadhar, UPI, GSTN and Ayushman Bharat are operating on digital platforms and with this benchmark of success, India’s movement has arrived.
He said, Digital India is transforming the lives of Indians through the power of technology and Digital India is changing the villages of India.
He said, Prime Minister announced, Atmanirbhar Bharat to create new Make in India digital products.
He appreciated the efforts of Google for making huge investment and promoting innovation, information and digital awakening in India.
On this occasion, CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai announced Google for India Digitisation Fund.
He said, Google will invest Rs. 75 thousand crore in India over the next 5 to 7 years.
Mr. Pichai said, the fund will be utilized in enabling access to information in Indian languages, building new products and service, empowering business and leveraging technology and Artificial Intelligence for health, education and agriculture.
Thanking Prime Minister’s vision for digital India, Mr. Pichai said, India made huge progress in getting billions of Indian online, low cost smart phones combined with affordable data and world class telecom infrastructure.
He said, Google is looking forward to work with Indian government.
