An attempt to smuggle food items submitted by devotees to the temple by Devaswom staff was thwarted. The incident happened in Mukhathala Sri Krishna Temple in the Kollam district of Kerala.
The goods, including jaggery and rice flakes, were loaded into a tempo but were stopped by devotees and handed over to Devaswom Vigilance. The goods were offered by devotees during the Thiruvabharana procession held as part of the temple festival.
Devotees demanded that appropriate action be taken against the guilty employees. Devaswom Vigilance sought an explanation from the Mukhathala Temple Devaswom Officer. The vehicle used to transport the goods was taken into police custody.
