Devendra Fadnavis resigns as Maharashtra Chief Minister

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and submitted his resignation letter to the Governor at Raj Bhawan, a short while ago.

The present term of the State Assembly expires tomorrow. In the 288 member assembly, the BJP has emerged as the single-largest party with 105 seats while its partner Shivsena has won 56 seats.

The BJP is insisting on Chief Ministership being with the single largest party, while the Shivsena is aspiring for an equal share of power with a rotational arrangement to share the top position in the state.
