Caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis was today unanimously elected as the leader of BJP’s new legislature party. In a meeting of newly elected BJP MLAs, in Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai this afternoon, State BJP president Chandrakant Patil proposed Fadnavis’s name for the post which was seconded by 10 MLAs.
All the 105 newly-elected BJP MLAs were present at the meeting, where Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar and party vice president Avinash Rai Khanna were present as central observers. Tomar said no other name was proposed at the BJP legislature party meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party President Amit Shah and senior party leaders for giving him another opportunity to work for the state.
He also thanked Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray and other allies for their cooperation during his last five years tenure as the CM and asserted that the new government will belong to the Mahayuti only. Fadnavis also said that he will work for improving farmers’ condition and making the state drought-free on a priority basis.
