It is a big win for Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) when they dominated the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. Out of four seats ABVP won three of the four seats, while the Congress-affiliated National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) managed to get one seat.
Around 40 percent of the 1.3 lakh eligible students voted in the elections to the Delhi University Students Union (Dusu) on Thursday, August 12, 2019. Counting of votes started at 10 am on Friday and the results have been declared with ABVP has won three posts — president, vice president, and joint secretary, while NSUI has won the post of secretary.
As the results were declared, celebrations broke out outside the counting centre in Kingsway Camp with supporters dancing to ‘dhol’ beats and rose petals being showered on the winners. The winners wearing garlands proceeded to the varsity’s Arts Faculty, from where they took out a victory march.
