Delhi schools to be shut till Nov 5 due to pollution

In the wake of increasing pollution and air quality downgrading to severe level in the national capital, Delhi Government has decided to close all schools till 5th of November.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, due to stubble burning, pollution level in the capital has increased manifold, hence, the government has decided to take this step.

As pollution level in the region entered the “severe-plus” category, the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority also banned the bursting of crackers during the winter season.

The air quality in Delhi-NCR deteriorated further Thursday night and is now at the severe-plus level, EPCA chairperson Bhure Lal said in a letter to the chief secretaries of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.
