As anti-CAA protests continue in Delhi, death toll in East Delhi violence touched 11. Curfew has been imposed in the area, however, Delhi Police has clarified that no curfew has been imposed in northeast Delhi. “Only section 144 has been imposed in the area,” Police said.
“Miscreants will not be spared, strict legal action will be taken against them. Sufficient police force, CAPF and senior officials deployed in the North East district. Sec 144 imposed in some areas of the district.” Delhi Commissioner of Police, Amulya Patnaik said.
Curfew imposed in Maujpur, Jaffrabad, Chand Bagh, Karawal Nagar areas as violence spread to surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Delhi Police Head Constable Ratan Lal have been brought to his residence in Burari area. He lost his life during clashes over the Citizenship Amendment Act in North East Delhi yesterday.
