Mumbai: In a move to crackdown Dawood Ibrahim’s D company, Mumbai Police arrested 3 including Dawood’s nephew here at Mumbai airport. The incident suggests that D-Company’s syndicate is very much active in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
DCP Dutta Nalawade of Mumbai Crime Branch said that the case pertains to a business dispute between two partners who exported electronic goods from China. One partner, complainant in the case, got a call from gangster Fahim Machmach.
“As Machmach got involved in the dispute and made a threat call. The partner then approached Mumbai Police as Fahim Machmach is known aide of gangster Chhota Shakeel,” Nalawade said.
“Further investigations revealed that Fahim Machmach was asked to intervene by Ahmedraza Vadariya, a Surat-based businessman. Vadhariya is a friend of Ashfaque Towelwala who was supposed to give Rs 15.5 lakh to the complainant. Vadhariya and Machmach know each other through Mohd Rizwan Iqbal Shaikh Ibrahim alias Kaskar,” Nalawade added.
The police have booked the accused under sections of extortion and criminal conspiracy. The arrested are remanded in custody till July 22.
