Curtain came down on 3rd Khelo India Youth Games with a colourful closing ceremony at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi indoor stadium in Guwahati this evening.
Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and MoS Food and processing industries Rameshwar Teli were present on this occasion.
They handed over the champions trophy to Maharashtra, first runner up trophy to Haryana and second runner up trophy to Delhi. Mr Rijiu said, the moto of the games is to promote sports culture in country.
He thanked Assam Government for hosting the biggest games of country. Mr Rameshwar said, the tournament is a big boost towards achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long term vision of Fit India movement.
Mr Sonowal saluted the hard work of all athletes who participated in the games. He said, their aim was to provide the best facilities and a world-class experience to athletes at the Khelo India Games.
The picturesque city of Guwahati bid an emotional goodbye to the Khelo India Youth Games on closing ceremony.
Assam showcased their rich cultural heritage in a crisp and beautiful show, led by a Modern Creative Dance performance by Aimee Baruah. Chinese Martial Artists wowed the audience with their speed and power.
They were specially flown in to mark the 70th year of the India-China friendship. Performances by Missing Dancers, Jhumuir Dancers and a solo by Babita Sharma set the mood for the evening.
Popular Assamese singer Jitul Sonowal too charmed everybody. The evening was topped up by live performance of Bollywood singing star Shaan.
