CPM state secretary M V Govindan faced a lapse during the Janakeeya Prathirodha Jatha, which he was leading in Kottayam. The incident occurred during the reception of the jatha at Pampady, where a few people left while Govindan was speaking. The secretary became upset, and the situation worsened when people left for the second time. He expressed his frustration by saying that some people are trying to wipe out the jatha while others are only interested in disrupting it.
Another controversial incident occurred in Mala, Thrissur, when the jatha reached there to defend and explain the allegations against the party on various issues. Govindan’s remarks in favour of K Rail sparked a discussion, and he also scolded the mike operator when he came to repair his mike.
The incident in Kottayam and the controversy in Mala have put the CPM in a difficult position. While the party has always been committed to the welfare of the people, such incidents can damage its image. The CPM leadership needs to address the concerns raised by these incidents and ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
