The Covid restrictions will be intensified in the state in view of the second wave of the pandemic. Police inspection will be intensified from Thursday onwards. This has been decided in the core committee meeting convened by the chief secretary.
The test positivity rate and daily Covid cases have been increasing steadily for the past few days. Also many people failed to follow the Covid preventive measures during the election campaign. With this, the number of Covid patients is likely to increase in the coming days. Considering this situation, the chief secretary convened the meeting.
The major decision was to intensify police inspection. The officers will check if the protocols like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing are followed properly. Sectoral magistrates will be appointed to take action against those who fail to follow the protocol.
It is also decided to increase number of RT-PCR tests and to vaccinate more people. The one-week quarantine for the people who arrived from other states and foreign countries will continue.
