The Kerala government has decided to initiate strict measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state. A meeting chaired by the minister for local self-government department MV Govindan and health minister Veena George took the decision here on Monday.
Ward level committees for COVID preventive measures will be strengthened. Rapid Response Team (RRT) and volunteers will be deployed in all wards. Awareness programmes will be carried out effectively under local governing bodies.
At present, the government has been actively conducting vaccination drives with the cooperation of local self-government institutions. Active coordination of various groups will be confirmed for initiating preventive measures at places where COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing.
The local self-government bodies will establish more CFLTCs at places recommended by the district disaster management authority. If necessary, hostels will be used for this purpose. The health department will provide details of COVID-19 cases in each region to the local self-government institutions. Preventive measures will be carried out based on this data.
