Leaders clashed during a march held by the Youth Congress in Wayanad to protest Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification in the caste abuse case. The incident took place during a protest demonstration led by the District Congress Committee to the telephone exchange in Kalpatta yesterday evening.
It was alleged that the leaders were not allowed to stand in front of the protest march, leading to the first clash after Kalpatta started from the Canara Bank premises. Youth Congress district secretary Sally Rattakalli was reportedly beaten up during the incident. Rattakalli said that he was attacked by a group led by Aali.
However, KPCC member P.P. Aali denied the allegations and said that he was only trying to stop Rattakalli, who was trying to grab the leaders and climb to the front. He stated that the allegations are baseless.
The clash continued as another group led by Youth Congress Kalpatta constituency president Harshal Konnath followed and reportedly beat up Rattakalli. MS Pratap Kalpatta and Febin, the leaders, also sought medical treatment at a private hospital in Kalpatta.
Pictures of Rattakalli being beaten are circulating on social media, and the incident has sparked outrage among Congress supporters. The police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are investigating the matter.
