SFI activists at Government Law College in Thiruvananthapuram have detained the principal and teachers following the suspension of 24 SFI activists. The suspension was a result of a conflict between SFI and KSU in connection with the college union elections. The SFI alleged that the college authorities only took action against SFI activists while sparing KSU activists.
The protest started at 4 pm and continued late into the night, with SFI activists detaining the teachers from going out of the campus. The principal, however, maintained that the suspension was based on CCTV footage that was reviewed in response to a complaint.
Late at night, the principal and student leaders held discussions with the management to resolve the situation. The SFI has been known to be a strong political force in college campuses across Kerala, often engaging in conflicts with rival student organizations. This incident highlights the need for peaceful and fair conduct of college union elections, without resorting to violence or unlawful actions.
