A clash that broke out between the Student Federation of India (SFI) and the Kerala Students Union (KSU) at Government Law College on Monday has taken a violent turn. Assistant professor V K Sanju has accused the SFI activists of brutal harassment during the clash on Monday.
Sanju stated that the teachers were locked up in a room, and she sustained injuries on her neck during the incident. She alleged that the SFI activists of the college, along with many outsiders, harassed the teachers for nearly ten hours.
“They switched off the fan and the light. They refused to switch it on when demanded. They did not pay heed to our request to let them out even after citing health issues,” Sanju said.
Following a complaint lodged by the assistant professor, the museum police recorded her statement, and a case has been registered against the accused.
The incident started after a clash broke out between the two student groups while trying festoons in connection with the college union elections scheduled to be held on March 24. Another clash broke out on Tuesday when the SFI staged protests over the incident. Both the SFI and the KSU have lodged a complaint, stating that many students from both groups sustained injuries in both attacks on two days.
The principal and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) office bearers convened a meeting and heard both their versions and examined the CCTV visuals.
