Former Chief of Army Staff and Union Minister of State VK Singh on Saturday said during a television interview that China was forced to return detained Indian jawans as India had also detained their soldiers.
In an interview to News24, Singhsaid, “Some media reports said that China released the Indian soldiers they had held captive. Similarly, we also released the detained Chinese troops.”
The Minister categorically maintained that the Chinese forces entered Indian territory but they had to vacate. “India will not compromise on its sovereignty and integrity, and won’t take the insult lightly,” he said.
Meanwhile, in strongly worded statement, India slammed China’s ‘exaggerated claims’ on Galwan Area. A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson said India’s position on the Galwan Valley was ‘historically clear’. Rejecting China’s claims over the entire Galwan Valley, he said that they were ‘untenable’ and varied from China’s own position in the past.
