Malayalam playwright, actor and director P Balachandran passed away on Monday morning at his Vaikkom house. He was 70.
He was ailing for some time and was bedridden for about 8 months. He was under treatment at Amrita Hospital for brain fever. The end came at 5 am.
The final rites will be held this evening on the premises of his house at Vaikkom.
Balachandran is best known for the play Paavam Usman for which he won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award and Kerala Professional Nataka Award in the year 1989.
Born to Padmanabha Pillai and Saraswati Bhai, he has scripted many films including Ulladakkam, Pavithram, Agnidevan, Punaradhivasam and Kammatti Paadam.. He has acted in Trivandrum Lodge.
He is survived by wife Srilatha and children Srikanth and Parvathy.
