BJP President Amit Shah has warned the Kerala government against the ill-treatment meted out to Ayyappa devotees who were resisting entry of young women into hill shrine violating age-old traditions. The state government has launched a brutal crackdown on Lord Ayyappa devotees in Kerala.
The BJP chief started his speech by chanting ‘Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa’, invoking Lord Ayyappa. Addressing a public meeting after ‘inaugurating’ the Kannur airport, Shah said the BJP will solidly stand behind the devotees.
“Today in Kerala, a struggle is going on between religious beliefs and state government’s cruelty. More than 2,000 activists and workers from the BJP, RSS and other organisations have been arrested. The BJP is standing like a rock with devotees, Left government be warned,” he said.
Taking on the government over the “undeclared Emergency” in the state, he said, “The Kerala government should stop the brutality in the name of the Supreme Court judgment. I am warning the CM and the Communist government against fomenting violence in the name of religion.”
