BJP J&K secretary, brother killed in suspected terror attack

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar were shot dead by suspected terrorists Kishtwar on Thursday.
The attack took place when the two men were returning home in the region’s Tapan Gali area after closing their stationery shop and they were fired at from close range. The police imposed curfew in Kishtwar after the incident led to communal tensions in the area. Mobile internet services were also terminated in the district.

Anil had contested the 2008 assembly elections on the ticket of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party from Kishtwar constituency.

Ravinder Raina, BJP state president, said the two were shot by terrorists at around 8pm and were taken to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. He added that the incident showed the failure of agencies and security forces.

The SHO and SSP were reportedly attacked by an angry mob at the hospital after the incident.
