As Bengaluru is all set to begin the process of unlocking the lockdown despite the daily positive cases touching the 2,000 mark, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta is planning to conduct Covid tests of all migrants.
“Upon the migrants return, we want to make showing the latest Covid report mandatory. We will discuss with the government and arrive at a decision soon,” Gupta was stated as per the regional media report.
The matter regarding whether BBMP should accept the latest report, or whether a fresh test should be conducted will be discussed with the government.
Meanwhile, the palike which had reserved 10,000 beds across hospitals in the city has decided to return 80% back to private hospitals. The commissioner also informed that Giddenahalli’s newly opened crematorium on a temporary basis had been shut as there is a reduction in Covid deaths.
Now, the palike is focusing on preparation for the third wave which is said to be lethal for children.
