A doctor has been suspended by the Yadgir district administration after she allegedly refused to perform a C-Section surgery on a woman until her family paid a bribe of Rs 10,000. The gynecologist, Dr. Pallavi Poojari, eventually performed the surgery only after receiving the bribe, leading to the death of the baby in the mother’s womb due to the delay in attending to her.
The incident occurred on Thursday when Sangeetha, a local homemaker, had come to the district hospital for delivery. Dr. Pallavi allegedly asked for a bribe to conduct the cesarean surgery, which the family did not have at the time. They left to arrange the money from relatives and friends, resulting in a delay in the procedure. The family and relatives claimed that the gynecologist’s negligence was responsible for the baby’s death.
Following the incident, the family protested on the hospital premises. The district administration ordered an investigation into the matter and subsequently placed Dr. Pallavi under suspension. The District Commissioner R. Snehal released a statement condemning the incident and assuring the public that necessary action would be taken against those found guilty of such misconduct.
