The Supreme Court will pronounce judgment in Review Petition filed in Sabarimala cases tomorrow. The Constitution Bench comprising of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices RF Nariman, AM Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra will be delivering the judgment in Sabarimala Review Petitions at 10.30 am tomorrow, reports Live Law.
The Supreme Court, on 28th September 2018, delivered the judgment in Sabarimala case. By a 4:1 majority, the Court has permitted entry of women of all age groups to the Sabarimala temple, holding that ‘devotion cannot be subjected to gender discrimination’. Kerala witnessed a massive calamity soon after the judgment while CPM led government added fuel to it by secretly reaching the young woman in the temple.
Several organisations approached the apex court again seeking a review on the entry of young women into the temple which is restricted due to the speciality of the deity Lord Ayyapa. The Supreme Court constitution bench had, in February, reserved judgment in a bunch of review petitions filed against the September 28 judgment, which declared the right of women of all age groups to enter the temple.
While the judgment can cause a massive impact on Kerala community, the same may also influence the upcoming verdicts on other religious cases, experts say.
