To mark the third death anniversary of Prof M K Govindan Nair, educationist and former Prant Sanghchalak of RSS, Kerala, Daya Trust, a Delhi-based philanthropic organisation, in collaboration with Prof M K Govindan Nair Foundation and Indus Scrolls, organised an ‘Annadanam’ event for the benefit of poor people, in Delhi on September 10.
The event was held on the premises of All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where patients and relatives of patients were served with food packets. Special care was taken during the distribution of food items owing to Covid-19 restrictions.
Speaking on the occasion, president of Daya Trust Prasannan Pillai said, “Prof Govindan Nair was social activist who dedicated his entire life to the cause of the nation. A loved and highly respected academician, he contributed immensely to the growth of RSS and its ideology in Kerala in difficult circumstances. He was a philanthropist who was associated with two orphanages in Kerala.”
G Sreedathan, Associate Editor, Organiser, said his father’s ideals continue to inspire many like him to take up social service activities. He recalled that on the first death anniversary of Govindan Nair, the Foundation had donated Rs 1.5 lakh to the Sewa Bharati to undertake relief activities for flood victims of Kerala. Sreedathan also said Indus Scrolls along with the Foundation has set up Kanya Vidya Pratishtan to offer educational assistance to girl children from poor families. It has provided help to a dozen girl students since its inception in 2018.
