While RRR movie made India proud by bringing Oscar, Indian film industry is hailing Keeravani who is known as the maestro of Indian film music. Though a movie is a result of teamwork, it is perhaps the song Natu Natu that attracted many to the legendary movie RRR.

M. M. Keeravani, also known as Maragatha Mani Keeravani, is a renowned Indian film composer, singer, and lyricist. He has been active in the Indian film industry for over three decades and has composed music for over 200 films in various Indian languages such as Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada. Keeravani is known for his versatility and his ability to create music that complements the film’s mood and narrative.

Keeravani was born in Andhra Pradesh, India, on July 4, 1961. He began his musical journey at a young age, learning classical music from his father S. V. Ramanan. He later studied at the Trinity College of Music in London, where he honed his skills in western classical music. Keeravani’s first break in the film industry came with the Telugu film Kanchu Kagada in 1984. Since then, he has composed music for many successful films and has won several awards for his work.

One of Keeravani’s most notable works is the soundtrack for the Telugu film Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and its sequel Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). The films, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, were massive box office successes and received critical acclaim for their music as well. Keeravani’s compositions for Baahubali were widely appreciated for their grandeur, emotional depth, and cultural authenticity. The soundtrack included songs in various Indian languages and featured collaborations with renowned artists like Mounima, Vijay Yesudas, and Kailash Kher.

Keeravani has also composed music for many other successful films, such as Annamayya (1997), Simhadri (2003), Magadheera (2009), Eega (2012), and Rangasthalam (2018). His music is known for its innovative use of instruments, blending traditional Indian music with western influences, and creating unique soundscapes that elevate the film’s narrative.

Apart from composing music, Keeravani is also a talented singer and lyricist. He has sung many of his own compositions and has written lyrics for several songs as well. Some of his notable works as a singer include “Vidhata Talapuna” from the film Sirivennela (1986), “Mamatala Talli” from Baahubali, and “Ranga Ranga Rangasthalaana” from Rangasthalam.

Keeravani’s contribution to Indian film music has been immense, and he continues to inspire and influence many young musicians and composers. His ability to create music that transcends language and cultural barriers has made him a beloved figure in the Indian film industry. Keeravani’s dedication, passion, and talent have earned him a special place in the hearts of film lovers and music enthusiasts alike.
